TOXIC WASTE

Local Councils do not allow certain items, once safe, now deemed to be toxic, to be placed for regular collection.

This now includes what is termed “e-waste”, that is computer components and the like.

Why were we not warned when we were encouraged to buy them.

We pay “a s---load” in council rates. I would prefer that councils have a free repository process than leave some with little alternative to illegally dump, or smash into small enough pieces to conceal in a garbage bag!

Those lovely “energy saving” light bulbs that are given to us by government agencies, I understand, contain toxic material.  These don’t seem to meet the stated life expectancy and therefore assume end up with the normal garbage.

Incandescent light bulbs seemed safe for 100 or so years.

Are we being conned?
